15th December 2010. Riviera announce a totally free and totally independent automated dispensing system deal. Finally, Opticians can benefit from one of these fantastic machines free of charge yet still remain fully independent and choose lenses from whoever they prefer. Like the Essilor Visioffice or Hoya visuReal systems it is capable of gathering basic data such as heights and pupil centres, through to all the neccessary measurements for todays individually tailored freeform lenses. It also gives amazing 3D progressive lens and lens thickness simulations as well as a great frame-on-face fitting suite for patients to trial frames and virtual lenses.

1st March 2010. Nikon Optical launch 1.74 index Transitions lenses! This is great news and a real first, as up until now the highest index lens any manufacturer has produced has been 1.67. We're sure others will follow suit as soon as they can but at present Nikon are the only people to offer this latest development. The lens range is limited at the moment, but so far we have done a few pairs of the Presio I digital in 1.74 index transitions and been very pleased with the results. Please note: we won't glaze 1.74 into any rimless mount except for very flexible types such as the Silhouette Titan Minimal Art etc.

8th January 2010. New PNX D28 bifocal lenses available from Hoya as from 14th Jan 2010. Perfect for low rx's into rimless where patients don't wish to have varifocals. Remember our 2-year anti-breakage warranty on all trivex and PNX products.

28th September 2009.     From PPG industries, the originators of Trivex, comes a new 1.60 material. The product is still undergoing extensive testing for surfacing, coating and glazing and an official release date is still unclear. It is not intended to replace the original 1.53 Trivex material for strength and ultimate durability but promises to offer a much lighter and optically better solution than current 1.60 materials. Although not as tough as the 1.53 material, it should prove at least as good if not better than existing top end 1.60 materials.

21st September 2009   Hoya launch new AR coating at Silmo. The new HI-VISION LONGLIFE is reportedly the hardest MAR available. Of significance, it comes with a 3-year warranty. It would appear Hoya have left it up to each country as to whether they follow Essilor Forte with an anti-scratch warranty. It is unsure what  Hoya UK will decide, but we do know it is due for UK release in April 2010.
